Job Description

The Lean and Agile coach will tutor and mentor management and team members within the team and across the organization, driving cultural change, building a community of engaged, problem-solving members. They will implement a management system that utilizes Continuous Improvement strategies, putting the customer first and eliminating waste through teamwork, communication and mutual trust and respect.

  • Understanding when it is necessary to coach people to change management within a project, or run the program by yourself.
  • Co-ordination across multiple projects to ensure information is provided in a coordinated and timely manner.
  • Drive consistency among the Business Transformation Office and create a community to share best practice as well as introduce tools to facilitate the process.
  • Work closely with project teams to develop and mentor project team member on using Agile/Scrum and Lean/Kanban methodologies.
  • Coach and mentor Project team members, wider group of Stakeholders and Sponsors across the business on Lean and Agile principles, as needed.
  • Carry out Agile coaching and assist Project teams with the implementation of Agile.
  • Build and develop problem-solving skills.
  • Provide leadership on Lean and Agile activities tools and practices.
  • Apply and maintain Lean tools and practices to support adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Remain the leading edge of Agile development practices and contribute to their spreading across the organization.
  • Understands the mechanisms of Agile and Lean and able to clearly communicate to others.

Required Personal Qualities/Skills/Competencies that are Critical to the Job:

  • Lean management system tools and principles (VOC, VSM, A3, Standard Work, Visual Management, Kaizen, PDCA, etc.)
  • Strategic planning, quality management and Six sigma principles and Processes.
  • Business operations and management systems (practices and processes).
  • AGILE programming and concepts experience.
  • Possess prior experience coaching teams in Agile and Lean.
  • Proven mentoring, training, coaching, facilitation and relationship building experience.
  • Project management, and organizational skills (Microsoft project, JIRA etc.).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; can present formally and informally.
  • Good relationship management and teaming skills.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
  • Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere.
  • Forward thinking with a holistic approach.
  • A disciplined thinker with an ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Able to anticipate issues and think proactively to resolve issues and risks.
  • Tertiary education level required.
