Summary:

The work schedule for this position is: Part-Time (20 hours per week).

Supervisory Position: No Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No Travel Required: Not Required Duties

This position is located within the U.S. Mission to ASEAN. The incumbent supports the Deputy Chief of Mission, the POL Chief and the ECON Chief. The incumbent arranges travel to the ten ASEAN Members in Southeast Asia, manages appointment schedules and programs, and maintains the flow of activities for the Deputy Chief of Mission. The incumbent works with the officers to ensure timely action on tasking and manages the paper flow in the Executive Office, in cooperation with the Chief of Mission's OMS (Office Management Specialist). In support of the political and economic sections, the incumbent assists with appointments, travel arrangements, and assembling briefing materials for multilateral meetings. The incumbent assists the COM OMS in managing the Executive Office and serves as her back-up when she is on leave. The incumbent also backs up the Management Liaison on reporting time and attendance for the Mission as well as other Mission support-related activities.


Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: 3 (three) years working experience in a professional office environment is required; along with a minimum of 1 year work experience in the State Department.

Education Requirements:
  • completion of two (2) years university or college is required
Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing English is required. This may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be personable and tactful, resourceful and able to develop and cultivate working relationships with various sections and personnel; must have the ability to plan, organize, establish priorities, direct and follow up on work; must be able to maintain confidentiality as needed; must be able to work independently with minimal supervision; must have the ability to get and maintain Top Secret clearance.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Jakarta, Indonesia, may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
