The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the company’s operations comply with internal policies, buyer requirements, and external regulations, including labor laws, environmental standards, and ethical business practices. This role monitors, evaluates, and implements compliance programs to minimize risk and maintain the company’s credibility with stakeholders and global brands.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures in line with local regulations and buyer requirements.
- Monitor company practices to ensure adherence to labor laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections to identify potential risks or violations.
- Prepare and maintain compliance documentation for audits and buyer assessments.
- Act as the point of contact for buyer compliance teams and external auditors.
- Provide training and awareness programs for employees on compliance-related topics (labor rights, workplace safety, ethical conduct, etc.).
- Follow up on audit findings by developing corrective and preventive action plans.
- Collaborate with HR, QA, Production, and other departments to ensure alignment with compliance standards.
- Report compliance status, risks, and improvement initiatives to management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in compliance, audit, or HR (experience in manufacturing, especially garment/apparel/bag industry, is preferred).
- Strong knowledge of labor regulations, health & safety standards, and social compliance requirements.
- Experience with buyer audits, certification standards, or factory compliance assessments is a plus.
- Experience in SLCP BWI Audit will be considered a strong advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and reporting skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in English is an advantage.
- Detail-oriented, disciplined, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
