Job Description – Sales Manager (Indonesia)

Position Title: Sales Manager – Indonesia

Department: Sales & Business Development
Location: Indonesia
Reports To: Regional Head / Country Manager / Director – Sales
Industry: [Insert Industry – e.g., Manufacturing / FMCG / Engineering / Services]

1. Position Overview

The Sales Manager – Indonesia is responsible for driving sales growth, developing the local market, managing customer relationships, and expanding the company’s presence in Indonesia. The role involves identifying new business opportunities, achieving revenue targets, managing distributors/partners, and ensuring strong customer satisfaction.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Sales Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities in Indonesia.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and market expansion plans.
  • Identify and prioritize high-potential business segments.

B. Business Development

  • Identify new customers, distributors, and channel partners.
  • Conduct market mapping and build a strong sales pipeline.
  • Lead negotiations, finalize contracts, and close deals.

C. Key Account Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with major clients and stakeholders.
  • Address customer queries, provide solutions, and ensure long-term retention.
  • Conduct regular client visits and reviews.

D. Distributor / Channel Partner Management

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage distributors/agents.
  • Monitor distributor performance and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct product trainings and support partners for improved sales.

E. Sales Operations

  • Ensure timely submission of reports (sales MIS, visit reports, forecasts).
  • Monitor pricing, margins, and credit policies.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (logistics, finance, service, marketing).

F. Compliance & Coordination

  • Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for deliveries, payments, and customer support.

3. Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Market knowledge of Indonesia
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Distributor/Channel management experience
  • Strategic planning and analytical ability
  • Customer relationship management
  • Target-driven and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently in a multicultural environment
  • Proficiency in English & Bahasa Indonesia (preferred)

4. Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 5–10 years of sales experience in Indonesia
  • Experience in [Tobacco , cigarette factories ] sales (e.g., FMCG / Engineering / Industrial / Manufacturing)
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets
  • Experience handling distributors/agents

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Achievement of monthly/annual sales targets

  • Growth in revenue and market share
  • Distributor performance and expansion
  • Customer satisfaction and retention
  • Sales pipeline development
