As the Lead of the Digital Financial Services practice in Asia, the jobholder will be responsible for the technical oversight of all Digital Financial Services linked advisory in the region and, within Indonesia, work across Practices (in addition to Digital Financial Services such as Agrifinance, Housing Finance, SME Banking, Risk Management, etc.) to deliver market-leading client solutions by leveraging local and regional resources. IFC’s FIG Advisory Services aims to deliver innovative solutions to support target clients’ objectives to expand and grow their business, in line with IFC’s country strategies to address development challenges. The jobholder would also closely collaborate with the Upstream, Investment and World Bank teams for better synergies and integrated firm-level as well as market-level solutions. Founded on comprehensive diagnostics and knowledge resources IFC designs and implements capacity building to strengthen clients’ business model, organization, products and services, risk management framework and/or digital capabilities to better serve underserved market segments.

Client and Stakeholder Management:

Communicate with top management of the Bank, and ably articulate institution-level as well as segment-level solutions, especially in Digital Financial Services.
Hold knowledge transfer sessions, lead diagnostics with clients, and also be the technical lead for the execution of advisory projects in Indonesia.
Provide oversight specially to Digital Financial Services banking projects in the Asia and Pacific region for quality and consistency of approach.
Work collaboratively with Investment Anchor in the designated countries (mainly Indonesia) to align advisory to help close pipeline investment projects and provide solutions to key portfolio clients.
Engage with the relevant teams at the World Bank and IFC for reforms needed to unlock new markets and work collaboratively with Upstream teams.
Support country priority initiatives such as Digital Financial Services, Agrifinance, Housing Finance, among others.
Play the lead role in driving the development of Digital Financial Services advisory solutions for the Asia Pacific Region.

Design and Operationalize Solutions:

Collaborate with Client Engagement staff as well as industry specialists in the design, pitch and negotiation of client solutions. Review and contribute to the development and approval of relevant project documents and client deliverables for moderately complex projects to ensure standards and objectives within a thematic area are met.
Participate in senior level client meetings to provide technical advice and monitor progress in implementing thematic recommendations.
Improve the design and delivery of client solutions by incorporating global best practices and lessons from past. Partner with results team in developing appropriate theories of change and results frameworks and indicators to strengthen the development impact and sustainability of client solutions and continuously learn from client projects/ engagement.

Create and Share Knowledge:

Identify and participate in conferences to showcase IFC offerings and value proposition, which includes serving as panelist/ moderator for internal and external events related to the thematic area.
Conduct research to shape on-going and future offerings in the thematic area and develop new tools and guidance to incorporate internal and external best practices.

Build Capacity:

Design and deliver training and communication strategy for Investment and Advisory staff to better enable them to be champions of the thematic area, and for external stakeholders to generate interest in thematic areas and understanding of why it is important/ advantageous to businesses, business climate, community and/or economy.

Staff Supervision:

Oversee/ supervise assigned staff and consultants.
Develop assigned staff and members of the broader team through mentoring, coaching and by providing on-the-job learning opportunities.
Ensure quality control of work products.
Determine resources needed to support projects and ensure efficient/ effective use of resources.
Manage project budgets.

Selection Criteria

At least 15 years’ experience primarily in banks or leading fintechs and having done leadership role (heading a department or division) for at least 5 years.
At least a master’s degree, or equivalent professional qualification, in the field of international finance, preferably in Financial Technology, with a strong background in any of the areas of digital finance (such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics). Additional certifications in fintech and/or digital platforms or related fields would be an advantage.
At least 10 years of senior level experience in a digital vertical/business – preferably in data analytics and digital strategy designing, with strong experience in the development and roll out of asset and liability products.
Strong track record in a leading role working with the different types of financial institutions and innovative digital challengers (such as fintech, internet giant, digital-only bank).
Strong track record in a leading role in executing one or more components of digitizing end-to-end customer journeys in a financial services organization, i.e. payments, savings, insurance, account opening, credit and e-commerce; experience working in leading consulting firms is a plus.
Experience in a leading role in product development, especially in the space of digital banking and MSME products.
A very good understanding of related areas of digital finance, i.e. hardware, software, products, systems, platforms, market players, etc.
Experience in leading firm-wide corporate initiatives and fintech initiatives; showcase introducing, defining and practicing agile methodologies in the organization, while ensuring that change control is executed through approved governance model of the organization.
Practical experience of introducing and implementing digitization and automation in a financial services organization to inject efficiency in processes, to save costs and to improve customer experience.
Knowledge of policies, laws and regulations governing digital financial services specially in Indonesia, and generally in other countries would be an advantage.
A sound knowledge of SME Banking and Microfinance and the operations of financial intermediaries would be desirable.
Industry/Sector Knowledge - Understanding of sector drivers, business and market development cycles, and how business performance and long-term competitiveness and viability are measured within a sector and how sector dynamics may evolve within a country or region.
Market Creation - Capacity to identify barriers for market creation opportunities in a targeted country by tapping into relevant internal expertise and synthesizing information on local regulatory and economic contexts, industry and sector structure and landscape, and constraints clients are facing to grow their business.
Demonstrates active listening skills by paying full attention and asking questions to clarify client and stakeholder needs and gather required information.
Ability to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders by acting professionally, responding to their requests and inquiries, delivering what is promised, and meeting deadlines.
Capacity to build productive and mutually beneficial relationships and networks internally and externally to identify business opportunities and resolve issues is a plus.
Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively influence the perception and support of clients and stakeholders.
Ability to draft documents and reports that are concise, well-organized, and appropriately focused on the most critical points that are relevant to the target audience.
Utilize charts, graphs, and other presentation techniques to communicate complex data and concepts simply.
