General Manager

Job overview:
Responsible for developing strategies to maximize business performance and profitability, promotional strategies, competitively dominant merchandise assortments, by business profit maximization, and customer satisfaction by meeting demographic needs.
Oversees the execution of merchandise selection and procurement for related the business
Sets the merchandise direction to ensure a focused continuity on the selling floor across the business.

Key Accountabilities:

Need to be able to interact, manage, and coach buyers, assistant buyers, selling staff, back-end staff, and should have an enthusiastic attitude to motivate them in their jobs.
Foster an environment that promotes personal development Of divisional merchandise manager, buyer ind their business. Build and maintain high morale amongst entire buying team and personally set the example of development.
Set the overall strategy and merchandise direction for a pyramid of business.
Direct DMMs (Divisional Merchandise Manager) to develop assortments that support their need of the customer and the financial objectives of the merchand ise division.
Ensure that promotional strategies and marketing, support the financial objectives ofthe merchandise group.
Work with the planning organization to develop assortment plans that support overall strategy of in-stock positioning for key merchandise categories, important merchandise classifications and key vendors,
Work with the General Manager Merchandising to strengthen market relationships and knowledge of market trends, strength and weaknesses.
Understand competitors' strength, weaknesses and strategies.
Facilitate and promote timely communication and cooperation between stores, merchandising functions and resources to accomplish sales, margin and service objectives,
Support buying staff with the vendor community to obtains merchandise exclusives, product launches, best deliveries, and the desired sales, turnover and margin plans.
Establish gepartment direction and priorities, and communicate effectively to merchant team.
Able to travel regionally and internationally. Attending trade fairs/trade shows, locally and abroad, to select and assemble a new collection of products,
Being able to analyze Company reports, financial Statements, inventory listings, open-to-buy positions, unit sales summaries, and other Merchandise related reports,
Measuri ng and evaluatingsituation and trends in order to form sound judgements and to make the right decisions.
Regularly analyze sales and any other available data in order to improve decisionmaking process.
Keep updating knowledge oda regular basis and improving product intelligence directly to manufactures and to cut the lead time from orders to in-shop.
Required to be fully conversant with the wide selection of resource available; including the best deals can be made, the best terms and conditions, the best deliveries alul exclusivity terms.
Being able to be Objective — the choices and selections must be based on store's customer profile, historical sales data, market sensitivities, forecasts, market representative or any other objective Sources.
Being able to predict and create collection the direction in which the consumers' merchandise preferences are heading Regularly reviewing performance indicators with sales.
Improve and increase stock turn in order to achieve greater margin.
Able to create needs and trends for the market.
Required an in-depth knowledge of customer profile and trends, as well as being able to take calculated risk by reviewing past sales report and fashion forecasters' predictions.
Required to be truly dedicated in working long and irregular hours, such as buying trips, vendor visits, fashion shows, market-week (a fixed period when all vendors show their new collections for the coming season, enabling buyers to make comparisons and vendors to assess the volume of productions required)
Managing.peak festive periods or season-end sales, opening a new branch or store where stock deliveries and inventories need to be presented in the best possible manners.
Ability to prioritize work t6 be more productive in managing analytical reports, which will enhance creativity.
Expected to dress fashionably or at least, very professional to make a good impression; regularly interact with customers, vendors, or business associates.
Managing plans for stock levels; reacting to change in demand and logistics.
Meeting with Suppliers and negotiating terms of contracts.
Managing relationship with Current existing suppliers.
Sourcing new suppliers for future consumer demands.
Liaising with other departr{ents within the organization to ensure projects are completed.
Participating in promotional activities.
Writing reports and sales forecasts and analyzing sales figures,


Successful completion Of multiple buying and/or management assignments in a full-line department store, or equivalent
